FAQs

Payment Policy

Payment is required at time of purchase (unless you have chosen to pay cash and pick up order/have order dropped off.)  Payment methods are not stored so we cannot edit orders after they are placed.  If you choose to pick up/have order dropped off, payment is due at the time of pick up/drop off.  Custom orders will need to pay for supplies up front.  This is to prevent us getting stuck with supplies we do not typically use.

Refund Policy

Due to the nature of our products we do not offer refunds or exchanges

If you receive an item that is damaged or something is missing, please email us at thequeencitywax@gmail.com and we will correct/replace your items

Our Wax & Fragrance Oils

We use a proprietary wax blend of mostly soy and some added food grade paraffin.  The wax we use gives our products the best possible scent throw.  The wax is also toxin-free, paraben-free, phthalate-free and gluten-free as well as being FDA approved & California Prop 65 compliant.

We only use professional grade fragrance oils that are phthalate-free and paraben-free.  Our wax melts contain the maximum amount that can bond with the wax during the curing process.  If you are very "scent sensitive," please try a scent that you know you can tolerate or consider using a smaller amount in your wax warmer.

Our wax melts are safe to use in homes with pets and children but please do not let them be consumed by pets and children.  Please keep your wax warmer out of reach of children when in use.  We also advise to consult with your doctor before using any scented products in your home if you are pregnant or have newborn babies.  Newborn babies can be very sensitive to any scented products

What are wax melts?

Wax melts are like a wickless candle.  Melts are placed in the top of a wax warmer (electric or tea light).  The wax is then heated to a temperature hot enough to release fragrance into the air.  The wax is left behind and does not disappear like a candle.  You can use the same melt until the scent has dissipated and then switch to a new scent.  There is no flame or black soot to worry about and is preferable in homes with pets and children and apartments where candles are not allowed.

How are wax melts used?

Some wax melts will be smaller shapes so you can easily place a few in your wax warmer.  Some wax melts will be larger, requiring you to break or cut them into smaller pieces before melting.  The more wax used, the bigger the melt pool, resulting in a stronger scent throw.  We recommend using at least enough wax to cover the bottom 1/2 inch of your melting dish to prevent overheating and potential cracking of your wax warmer.

Once the fragrance has dissipated, let the wax cool, pop out of your warmer dish and add a new scent to enjoy.  You can also combine different wax melts together in your warmer to create your own custom scent blend!  Our wax melts will last roughly 4 hours per 1 inch cube.  Everyone is different when experiencing scent so that is difficult to guarantee.  We can personally get a couple days worth of fragrance out of a few cubes but that also depends on the scent.  Some scents are always lighter than others.

You can switch scents more often with wax melts versus candles.  Wax melts are also more cost effective!

What is "scent throw"?

There are two types of throw: cold and hot.  Cold throw refers to the scent strength of the wax when smelling it before it's melted.  Hot throw refers to the scent strength when it's melted and how far the scent travels.  There are light, medium and strong scent throws.  There are also factors that can have an effect on scent throw.  They are:

  • temperature of the room
  • room size
  • air conditioning
  • how strong the melts are
  • temperature of your wax warmer
  • melting the same scent over and over again (scent blindness).  If you can't smell something that you used to, try taking a break from using melts or use a different scent for a while

We recommend using an electric wax warmer with a bulb of at least 25 watts.  You can also use a tea light warmer if you prefer.  Lower wattage warmers will take a lot longer to melt your wax.  Colder temperatures in your room will also make it take longer to melt or may not fully melt the edges, resulting in a weaker scent throw.  Rooms above 68 degrees fahrenheit will be best for optimal hot throw

How do you remove wax from warmer?

We like to use reusable silicone muffin cups from Amazon in our warmers because it makes clean up very easy.  Simply let the wax harden and it comes right out of the silicone cup.  You can also soak the hot wax up with cotton balls and throw away.  Then wipe your dish clean.  Another way to remove spent wax is to let it harden and run the underside of your removable warmer dish under warm water to loosen the wax and pop out.  Do not leave any water behind on your dish if you use this method.  Often you can just use the edge of a spoon or butter knife to loosen harden wax and it will come right out.  You will find a method that works best for you
